Marion Brown was born September 8th, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia (although many encyclopaedias give his birthday as September 8, 1935). His main instrument was the alto saxophone, but he also played soprano saxophone, clarinet, flute, wood flute, zomari, guitar, piano, and percussion. He spent the last five years of his life at an assisted living facility in Hollywood, Florida. He died on October 18, 2010 at the age of 79.
